Active in Age
Introduction
In Israel, with increasing life expectancy and quality of life, many retirees are looking for ways to supplement their monthly income and maintain a sense of purpose in their lives. Unfortunately, there is a significant challenge in finding new employment at an older age. In response to this challenge, Click Association in Hod Hasharon established the “Active in Age” initiative, designed to provide creative and innovative solutions for the employment of retirees, with an emphasis on economic independence and improved quality of life.
Background
Disturbing data shows that approximately 25% of older adults in Israel live below the poverty line. For many, the old-age pension is their sole source of income, which is insufficient to meet their needs. This creates a complex reality where seniors, who are still capable of contributing to society and working, are left without suitable employment opportunities. Furthermore, statistics show that most employers prefer younger workers, making it even more difficult for older adults to integrate into the labor market.
The Solution: The “Active in Age” Initiative
Click Association launched the “Active in Age” initiative to provide retirees with the opportunity to work in a supportive and respectful environment. The initiative operates unique employment centers where retirees engage in various activities, such as:

Sewing and ceramics: Producing handmade products that combine creativity and skill.

Packaging and preparing craft kits: Creating kits sold to educational institutions, kindergartens, community centers, and nursing homes.

The products created through the initiative are sold both in Israel and abroad, providing an additional source of income for both the association and the participating retirees. Moreover, the revenue from product sales supports the expansion of the project, allowing the association to continue developing new initiatives.
